Unity Challenge Dec.15-Jan.15

Gosh, I sure love to get these things in under the wire! ;) This one is for the Unity Challenge ending tonight at midnight! I'm *so* proud of this little gift bag..it's made with an irridescent cardstock, all handcut! I used a Heidi Grace template and my husband helped me score it...this was *not* easy but it was worth it. My son claimed it for himself hehe.

What I really love about this, is there is nothing new and exciting about it, but it still has a modern feel. The stickers/papers are all from a stack I picked up at Michael's a few years ago. As a matter of fact it's a "rob and bob studio" holiday slab by provo craft! (Holiday Slab IV) Do they still make holiday slabs?

The stamps of course are Unity! I used Ticket to Christmas. I *love* this one. How can every Unity stamp be my new favourite? They stamp *so* crisp and you get them for such a good deal since there's no wood. :)

Hi hip hoppers. :) This is the card I have to share with you today. It uses 2 of the co-brand (Cosmo Cricket) itty bitty's.

I useda bunch of unconventional stuff here..the doily, the crepe paper, the tissue paper is from some vintage "multistamp transfer" paper which I used to create the flower and stamped the quote on. The leaves are vintage velour ones I found at a thrift store.

Phew! Just under the wire. I play every month, so I don't like to miss! Working 70 hours a week...I just don't have as much time as I would like to play! Check out all the entries HERE!

The background...was the bane of my existance. I was having a hard time figuring out how to layer the Spellbinders Impressabilities using a Big Shot. I finally got something working, but not sure if I did it right...

I also got to use a couple oldies! Like the making memories vellum tag..WOW those are old! :) The little chipboard "joy to the world" I think may be DCWV? The flower was made by my online friend Norine Borys! She spent her summer up in her cottage making 100's of flowers for her online friends at Love is in the Details! How sweet, eh? :)

Welcome Friends with Flair! I'm trying so hard to get in a Christmas mood, but I just feel like a grinch!! Anyone else get like that..? I always feel so rushed, like I'm not doing enough! Well...trying to get in the mood by revisiting some old cards. I used an Ippity set for this one. One of my faves! (Don't we say that about ALL our Unity? heeh) The saying is just one I made up on the computer.

Well...leave it to me to get things done just under the wire. :/ I wish I had more time to craft...because I feel like I'm really forgetting how to do things. It results with me not being too happy with anything I make! It's hard because I work 70 hours a week. BOOO to work, right?

Anyways..here is my card for the Unity kit of the month stamp challenge! I keep playing...but really I have one more kit left I can purchase. I'm missing one from 2011. 2 or 3 from 2008 that I can't get now, anyways. I'm a pretty bad Unity addict! ;)
I used the sentiment from the KOM April 2009. The snowflake is from September 2008 KOM. The tag, I made using a paper bag from starbucks... yep I treated myself to a banana nut loaf slice..hehe. It's so moist, can you blame me..? I don't bake!

This is a card I made for the Unity Challenge. The challenge was based on a fall poem. I actually like the way this card turned out! It's simple and me. I love those zing embossing powders, wow they sure pop! The stamps were from Unity's September 2008 kit of the month...wow! It's a line of 5 trees, but I stamped 3 of them individually onto pop dotted circles. My goal is to go back and use some older stamps. I have SO many unused stamps!

Here are some photos from Halloween! My 3 (4, on Friday!) year old son asked to be Luigi. Man, I thought it was going to be a challenge...but it came together SO easily. I loved it..he was adorable! People loved his costume!

My daughter went as a devil... I don't think you'd find a prettier little devil! :) On a side note...it's SOOO hard to find an appropriate costume for a little girl! My daughter is 8 and I was embarrased looking at costumes for her!

And here are our Angry Birds pumpkins. Angry pumpkins? hehe. We had so much fun with these. They looked awesome lit up. We didn't get a chance to take a pic of them with candles in.

I have 5 or 6 layouts sitting on my desk that I haven't put into albums..they've kinda been sitting around waiting to get scanned since maybe May and June. EEK. I haven't really scrapped much since then...maybe a layout or two. So, I'll try and get some of these uploaded so I can put them into my albums!

This is my DD on her 1st birthday. She is 8 now. Holy smokes, where does the time go? Just a quick layout with some random pictures from the day.

Just a quick post to join in on friends with flair over at Unity!! I used an Ippity set here. I paper pieced the stack of books on dictionary paper and it was embossed in black. The butterfly I used glossy accents and then covered it with doodlebug glitter! I love doing this even though not often. The green seam binding NEVER scans right..but it matches the lighter green in the polka dots!

All Things Unity #42 BINGO

I tried taking a picture of my card this time..not sure I'm much happier with the results. BUT, I used my crummy cellphone camera. ;) I made this card for the challenge over at All Things Unity using a bingo card. I chose the last row down which was ribbon, sentiment, bling and free space. I chose rubons for that last space. The rubons I used were actually heidi swapp..from like 2005!! I could NOT believe they actually worked as well as they did (aside from the little paper sliding around so I didn't get a perfectly straight rubon!) considering they didn't work very good the FIRST time around!

Well, hope the pic is not too crummy. Still working on that! :D I'm also playing along with the HYCCT challenges at Splitcoast. So this one is for the 2nd challenge which was to use rhinestone bling.

I haven't done FWF with Unity in quite some time! So...I hope I'm doing this right! :) The set I used was What Matters Most by Ippity! I haven't used these particular stamps until now..and those butterflies are just so pretty! I had fun cutting them out and glitterizing! :)

This card is also a part of the Ippity Challenge to do one of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers. There's a new challenge everyday and the ladies are sending cards to a hospital in Texas I believe for Breast Cancer patients to use.

Here is my card in all it's crooked scanning glory. :) As usual, I have a real hard time with shape cards and I'm never happy with them...so I went rectangle. :) Funny thing about this card, is that I'm not even religious in any way! Although, I do love a lot of the beautiful messages! This card uses the Ippity set: What Matters Most.

Buckle Up!

I used to belong to a kit club at a defunct place now. (Just Cre8). The kits were massive...and I still probably have a dozen. I'm very much an extreme shopper, slow crafter. ;) A few months ago I challenged myself to make as many projects as possible with a kit. The following layout is from a February kit and I think at last count I had 22 layouts and 8 or so cards made with it! That is impressive. It helps that I *loved* this kit. It was mainly Fancy Pants - Splendid.

In any case, as the supplies dwindled, the layouts got simpler. :) I really enjoyed this process. I only have a few scraps left that I'm going to try and NIL! Not enough for a layout but I'll add background paper..because I have a set of glitter alphas to use up. There's really not enough letters to spell anything!

Today, I just felt like sharing a layout. I don't blog stuff as soon as I make it, I'm not fast, I'm not regular. As my husband says... I'm consistently inconsistent! lol

Falling Leaves

Another month, another Unity challenge. I totally need these, it's the only way I get my rubber inky!! I love that all the challenges get you using different stamps.

For this card, I stamped the leaves in versamark and then coloured them in with chalk. I *love* this technique! The "thankful" is embossed. I just love that stamp!

take up the most room in your heart. ~Winnie the Pooh My little DD when she was several months old. It's kind of ironic because she's REALLY tall now.. she is the tallest 3rd grader in her class and she's a foot taller than a lot of the kids!

I used the Unity Sketch to make a layout. It's not easy to turn a card sketch into a layout. :) If you look at the flower I used the little heart pins stamps from the September 2009 kit of the month. Sorry, about the colours, my scanner did not like!! I tried to correct as much as possible but that's the best I could do!

You know what I love about the Unity challenges?? It gets me using my Unity stamps AND using up scraps! :) Just what I needed to get back into the swing of things!

I *struggled* with this card! This is the first time I did an actual stamped paper piecing. I've stamped on pp before but never really cut out small details. :) My fingers are just too chubby and I have no patience! lol

The theme was *Back to School* I used a schoolhouse and the quote from a previous KOTM. I'll be passing this card on to a friend of mine who is a single mom, 29 years old and going back to University full time for her education degree!!! So proud of her and this quote was PERFECT!

The little branch is from a sizzix die. My kids actually punched it out while they were playing with it and I never thought there'd be a use for an orange branch...but since I never actually used the die myself (blush) I thought it was too cute to throw out! Ahh..there's always a use for something, no?

August Unity KOTM Sketch Challenge

Wow, I can't believe I've manage to participate in a 2nd monthly challenge! :) It's easy when the stamps you are using are so amazing! This is the sketch:

This is my card. It's not a great image of it, but I actually took it with my cellphone because it was way too thick to scan. I tried to hide the words in a circle with stickles...it's actually less obvious in person, but flash doesn't lie. ;) I didn't want the words to show because I just wanted it to be the number 5 for a 5th anniversary. I'm happy with how it turned out. It's hit and miss with me and cards!! lol

Stamps on this card are from the August Unity kit of the month. I just got them today! Yay! :)

Just trying to creep back in here...I've been making a few things here and there. Yes, I'm shocked myself. I made this card for a Unity Stamp Co. challenge! Click here to see the challenge!

I made this using up an old Just Cre8 kit that featured the Fancy Pants Splendid line. The stamp is from the July 2010 Unity Kit of the Month. I love it! Next time, I'll have to stamp it on smooth cardstock to see the details a little better!

Also, my Martha Stewart punch seen on this card is on the fritz? How disappointing for something that isn't used very often. It will NOT punch through bazzill at all. It hardly punched through this flimsy white cardstock!

A layout!

My friend from junior high had the wedding of the century. She even had a photo booth service set up...it was such a blast! She is the one on the left in the group photos. The machine printed off 2 sets of each...one for the brides scrapbook, where you sign with your photos and the other you get to keep!

Good morning, Unity peeps! :) I forgot to post last night so this is super fast before I go to work. I am in an ATC Swap...and this is what I came up with... I love these so much I wish I made one for myself! :( This is the Brave Girl kit..which is proving to be one of my faves!

"Born to Fly" was stamped on acetate and the butterfly was stamped and embossed with AC Zing powder...yummy! :)

Just a quick post tonight! It's late and I'm getting used to a new keyboard..much softer keys! For this card I used the Kissmas & Mistletoe stamp set. It was my first time cracking it open! I love these pretty snowflakes...I used white embossing powder. The "Peace" is stamped on a transparency! Plus, I finally allowed myself to use a teensy bit of vintage lace... I'm sure the other thousands of meters laying around won't miss it! lol

Friends With Flair

A quick post today, it's really late! If you're here for FWF make sure to start at the Unity blog so you don't miss any of the fabulous creations!! There is a TON of talent!

This layout is FULL of firsts! :) It was my first time ever, using corrugated cardboard for a background. As you can see, I'm not very good at stripping it..I wanted a little bit more of the paper to stay on. I get either all or nothing when I try it!

The glimmer mist is hard to see, but if you click on the image it may work better...it's homemade glimmer mist using luminarte! It actually turned out really well..and then I added paint to try and thicken it up..nope...not a good idea! ;)

The ribbon flower was SOOO much fun to make... I am so gonna try more of these... I spritzed the ribbon with my homemade glimmer mist before rolling it up!

Stamp set used: Where You Should Be by Ippity

{Ippity} Hop time!

Wow, the time sure flys by! This is my 3rd Ippity Hop, I can't believe it! I am so in love with Ippity stamps! I never really thought I would love making cards more than I do scrapbooking! But, quite honestly...it's hard to make time to do everything when you work full time and have a family to raise, try to be healthy and active. Cards are perfect for this because you can use an hour after bedtimes to whip up a card or two and still have time to watch a movie with your SO!

This card was for Unity's challenge of orange/teal/navy blue. What a fuuuun colour combination! You can't really tell but the gingham ribbon is navy blue and so is the c/s!
This card was for the yellow/turquoise and one other colour challenge! The other colour I chose was red! The turq. and the red make the eyes go all googly when you see this in person. I really must try and get some sort of light box going to take better photos of my cards. ;)
Anyhow, this card uses the love in return set by ippity and the garden variety by unity. I used the award ribbon, cut it out to make it a flower..that was fun..I'll have to play with that a little more in depth when I have a chance!

Hi there blog hoppers! Today, I have a special layout to share with you. It's a layout of my son Nicholas' birthday! I did this layout this past weekend and it didn't even really click...that my son's birthday is approaching yet again! In this photo he was celebrating his 5th birthday...and on Saturday he will be 11! I'm so proud of him yet for those of you who know me, my heart really hurts on July 24. So, I am so proud to share this with you since his birthday is tomorrow!

The papers are WRMK,a lthough I'm not sure if the green swirly one is. I outlined part of the flourish to make it pop a little bit more. The stamp I used was an Ippity stamp from "Love In Return".

I am super duper excited for the release of the new Ippity sets!! It will be a hugeeee order for me coming from Stephanie! It will be the whole Spring AND summer line!!!! *squeee* It was just last month that I got the whole winter line. I *love* Ippity stamps with my whole heart, they bring me joy! *teehee*

I'm also still waiting for my July Unity KOTM, anyone else stalking their mailman? Unity has the greatest product around and I'm so happy to have so much yummy Unity!

I love making cards with "hello" type sentiments on them, because then I can use them for anything. I usually have so many cards just sitting in a box never to be loved! Does anyone else do this?

{Ippity} Hop Monday!

Good morning! Just a quick post as I'm off to work! I thought this week I would use a different set so I used, Music of my Heart! I love this one it's so pretty. I love swirls and being a musician I love notes! I also love mixed fonts, so the little greeting is perfect! :) Could this set be any sweeter?

Two of my favourite products are stickles and little gems. I love using them on cards! I'm still struggling getting into the swing of card making/scrapbooking... but I hope some regular projects push me along! I had fun with this one!

It's been awhile since I've scrapbooked, so I am a bit rusty. ;) It's funny how everything just comes easier when you do it often. I really just can't... I don't have time for all the hobbies that I would like to have... but one day, the kids will be older...and I'll be bored! ;)

My friend Mia asked me to join her sketch team over at The Everyday Scrapper. I said, sure...why not! I figured it would get me scrapping a layout at least once a week! ;)

This is the layout I created...try as a may to be all extravagant, I just can't.. my stuff always comes out quite simple looking...I think it's my obsession with perfectionism! It's ok... I'm happy with how it turned out! Even though...I had to redo it, since I was practically done and my darling 2 year old coloured ALL over it! :o

Hello! Welcome to my blog. This is my first time doing the {Ippity} Hop! It's also my very first card made using {Ippity} stamps! I cannot express how much I love these! I've always loved Unity stamps...but when I saw these... the images were just way too cute! :)

This is from the "Sweet Thoughts of Spring" set from the winter 2009 release.

I'm a huge fan of scalloped borders, so I was super excited to stamp with these on patterned paper and cut them out! I just used scraps from my scrapbox for everything. The flowers are super duper old. Do you remember the Paper Bliss embellishment kits? Yep, I pretty much had them all. :)

I don't know what it is, but I just have this lack of creativity. Everytime, I sit down to try and scrapbook, I can't! I don't know if it's because I'm tired after working all day, because my time is very limited, I don't feel original...I think it's all of these things. Maybe, it's just because I have too much stuff and I don't know what I have anymore! Oh, and a lack of inspirational photographs... grrr

Cards... lately I feel like I've enjoyed making these more than layouts... maybe because they're small and take less time?

Maybe I shouldn't force it...I've taken an 18 month hiatus before. I often wonder if I enjoy shopping for pretty things more than actually scrapbooking!

Anyways, I'll share a layout I did a couple months back, just because I want to share one. ;) It's always an interesting challenge to use a diecut paper made for 12x12 scrappers, when you're an 8 1/2 x 11 scrapper!

Maaaaybe I should challenge myself to do a 12x12 layout and see if that helps? But...I'd have issues of it not conforming with the rest of my books...holy OCD! lol

Here is a card. I think they're fun. I no longer feel like I'm wasting supplies making cards. Maybe, I should tone it down on the sticker alphas though and use my QK or Sizzix alphas. They're replenishable. I rather save my stickers for layouts, if I ever make one again! (K, I've done layouts recently I'm just not ever happy with them anymore!)

Maybe this card needs a greeting... I dunno! I love using regular sewing pins through ribbon!

We all know there is so much drama in the scrapbooking world...I guess you get that many women together it's bound to happen. Generally, I don't like to cause ripples...

I left the design team I was on, because basically I was being punished for a having a real job. My tasks were given to someone else...someone who spends hours a day on the computer. Well, I simply can't do that. It's really disappointing when you're trying to do a good job with the time you have. In any case, a design team shouldn't take away from your real life and I wasn't letting that happen. There was hardly enough compensation for all the stress in that situation. I feel good about my decision. Apparently, the store owner does not and has decided to remove me from her site.

It's ok though, there are plenty of places on the internet to be... places where I don't feel like I've done something wrong because I have a job, a family and responsibilities!

Lulu, the reason I left facebook is because I'm trying to minimize how much time I spend on the computer and even though I wasn't getting on facebook often....I just don't even have the option to go on now. ;) For the most part I try to limit my days to 30 minutes of computer time a day. Some days I don't go on and other days a bit longer.

So, awhile back Lori had this posted on her blog...and I've been drooling and dreaming since that day. Well, last week I went ahead and treated myself to some goodies and got a few things.

First of all, I want to say that the owner of Kir DeVries, Kristin...is amazing! She was offering free shipping over $40 and she made a coupon code for me so I could receive the same offer! She even gave me a little extra just because I was having a hard time checking out! ^.^ She is just such a wonderful lady to make a transaction with, that for SURE I will be ordering from her again in the future. And, just an FYI...she offers a flat rate of 5.95 shipping to Canada as well. This in itself is an amazing feature, because we all know there are stores that want to charge us $20+ just to send a package of brads. This kind of customer service does not go unnoticed!

This awesome lunch tote. This has got to be one of my favourite colours to wear...because it makes my eyes super green...so why not have a lunch bag in this colour. Not that I will be carrying it around my neck...but you never know, it's just that cute! ;)

Now, I already have a stainless water bottle...but WHO could resist this one?!?? The other one,I'll keep in my gym bag, it's bigger and I die of thirst when I'm working out. This will be perfect for my water at lunch! Plus, it's green!

Ok...now I *love* all things vintage...and these lunch boxes are NO exception! They are just toooo cute. Since I'm visiting in between clients all day, read: in my car all day...I need to have food with me all the time...so I don't get an urge to pull into some grease joint! These just make me happy, and happy enough to pack my yummy healthy lunches! Now I just need some little condiment/sauce containers so I can bring my natural PB for rice cakes!

Elephants are my all time fave animal. They're so cute! I was so excited there was an elephant lunch box. I snagged it yup. Could that saying be ANY cuter! Even if grammatically it should say "an elephant." It just makes it that much more charming! Oh *swoon*

There are 3 or 4 other lunch boxes still on her site...and if they're still there when I order next, I'm snagging them all. Happy lunches!! Happy lunches!!

I plan on getting several of these next time as well. They're much cuter than the walmart bags I have. ;) I doubt I would forget to take these into the store with me! lol

It appears that I've been an awful blogger! Well, I haven't been scrapbooking too much as of late. But there was an online crop, so I had a chance to get some stuff done as well as complete some pages for my Savvy N' Sassy DT. All the ribbon used on the layouts is from there!

Here are 4 of my favourite layouts that I've created this month. They're all quite different, I think. But, I am really pleased with them all. Do you find that you make layouts that you are too embarrased to share, because you're just not happy with them? That's about half my layouts.

My cute little muffin top. This CC paper was perfect for this FP tunnel he had, and loved!

This new Kraft line by FP is HEAVENLY. Granted, I only have this one sheet (more is coming!) I was terrified to work with it, because as you know all diecut papers are designed for 12x12 scrappers. Well, I am quite pleased with how the cutting wound up on this layout. Will give me some kahones to try it again with different shapes. ;) Isn't baby so cute? Last Canada Day... *wah*

This one is of my DD, the day after she was born. You can tell by the background it's a hospital photo..man they have a limited supply of corny backgrounds! ;) I think this is my favourite layout. I got brave and used my prima papers...and my fave alphas, by doodlebug! I NEED a diecut of these letters! Please someone, make them into a diecut!

I joined Curves on Tuesday...I am SO ready to quit being fat! I've done this before..then I done did get pregnant and now it's time to focus on ME again. My turn! Tomorrow I am going to Curves to go through the circuit with a staff member and then I'll be good to go 4x a week after work and maybe even Thursday mornings when I drop Kara off at school.

I pledge to myself to get healthy and happy. I remember what that felt like when I lost 50 pounds before! For sure, I'll be spending less time on the computer..I already have. Somethings in life are just more important. Instead of being parked here for hours on end, I can use that time wisely instead of moping about how I look.

I'm in the process of starting a weight loss blog as well. Today I worked out on the elipitcal for the first time in YEARS. I thought I would die after 30 seconds...but I managed 20 minutes! I also had the pleasure of doing yoga with Bob from the Biggest Loser! ;) He's kind of cute! lol

2nd birthday of the year...

already. Mine. *wah* Birthdays are a time for joy and celebration. But, you know...I always feel sad and lonely on mine...I reflect on things that haven't turned out, and wonder how much time I have to do what I need to do etc etc. I KNOW!!! I'm such a downer. I guess, even growing up I didn't have birthdays, usually my mom would just say happy birthday and that was that...so maybe I grew up with a negative attitude towards my own birthday?

I'm 28 today. That's just 2 short years from 30. *sniffle* For breakfast I had a nice big slice of leftover cake from Jamie's birthday. I even stuck a candle in it and blew it out, much to my own amusement..since no one else was looking!! It made TOTAL sense to me why I had done it.

We're not having another cake today...there's really no point when we still have some in the fridge, and I've already indulged. *blush*

I always struggle to find titles for posts, do they really need them? I guess it's a good way to break them up. Maybe I'll start posting random titles. :o

I made this layout using mostly February kit from Just Cre8. I still have 2 more months to go with the kit, as much as I love it...it's getting to costly with the shipping. I'm really focusing on spending less money. I don't really buy much of anything anymore. As for scrapbooking, I have SOO much stuff, I'm trying to use stuff up.

Not everyone would get this layout, but it's an Austin Powers quote. I thought it would be funny to do this layout like this because of Kara's pose! I love the flourish rubon (MME) tucked into the corner above the strips...and it's one of those layouts that turned out I'm quite happy with!

Also, it's hard to see, but on the right side, there's some pompom trim tucked underneath one of the strips! It's so cute! That was from the Chocolate Kisses kit at Savvy N' Sassy!

When I get on a roll with layouts, they get better and better for me! I haven't scrapbooked in 2 weeks though, and no idea when I will...but I fear I will hate that layout! lol

I was supposed to go yesterday to crop all day, but I hurt my shoulder/neck...in bed. It wasn't THAT exciting LOL, it was the way I slept or something. It was so bad that I couldn't turn my neck... it's still pretty sore today, but no need to take anything stronger than a couple tylenol with codeine for now...

Anyways, that's it for now. I need to go bra shopping, and this is something I dread.

On Valentine's Day there was a crop over at LIITD. But, the night before I had started getting sick...and by Saturday morning I was crashed on the sofa..and there I remained for most of the day. I did manage to do a few layouts over the course of the weekend...but nowhere near what I had wanted to! I had been looking forward to spending the day scrapbooking, afterall...it was my deserved weekend off! (I only get every other weekend off)

Out of 4 layouts I made, I really like 3. I *think* this one is my favourite:

Here is the card I made with the leftovers. I am just horrible at making cards...but I think using scraps, they turn out nicer than me trying to make one from scratch...NO idea why!

I just *adore* the background stamp I used here. It's from JustCre8. It was in the February kit which featured the Fancy Pants line I used here.

I don't have a piece of acrylic big enough...so I kept the stamp on the plastic, inked it up, placed it on my paper and THEN pressed with the largest acrylic block I had, covering all the surfaces. Well almost, you can see where I didn't press too hard! ;) I think it still worked out rather well!

Anyways, there's some of my work to share, which I haven't in awhile! :)

Pink eye

I has it! :( It is not pleasant I tell you... I've never had it before...and I'm surprised I even have it. I'm a dilligent handwasher..I have to be for my line of work. But...I think I got it from my little son, who currently has a viral infection...not pink eye though.

The dr. told me it was viral...but I fear it may be bacterial. Because at night my eyes get sewn shut with the yucky stuff... my eyes feel gritty, they get blurred, and it's generally not pleasant.

Add this to my already going on day 6 unpleasant resistant to cepacol sore throat...and you've got one happy girl...not.

I hope this all clears up soon, so I can get back to normal, I have things to do... :S

Christmas' Past

I haven't been scrapbooking much lately, I'm just not feeling motivated lately... then I always contemplate whether I should just get rid of everything or what the heck scrap at my own pace!

At this point I have SOOO much stuff, not really a whole lot of embellishments..but for sure a lot of paper that this year..I'm not going to go mental buying stuff. It's kind of my goal to use up stuff I have. I find I'm at the point, that I don't know what to use because there is so much stuff. So my plan will be to buy the essentials as I need them, and if something catches my eye for something specific I will use shortly after I purchase it.

I made this layout over a couple days though..yes I'm slow..I just don't have a lot of time now working full time, but I'm pretty happy with it. There's a few little things I scraplifted like the handcut scalloped border..well I love that! I really loved using these old BG papers as well, that I've never used. *blush*

It's a vintage pic of me and my sister...and my brother, who's head is cut off...my mother never was good at taking pictures.. :o

Mikolaj is santa in Polish. He comes on December 6. The "l" is actually supposed to be an l with a slanted line through it, and is pronounced as if it were a "w". The j is pronounced as an "i" (Pronounciation: me-KO-why)

there's not much to say right now. We've been adjusting to a new routine and it's been difficult both mentally and financially. I started back at work on Friday night and Alex started daycare on Monday morning. I've cried myself to sleep two mornings in a row about it. I guess my sensitivity to the situation stems a lot from the situation to the boys...whenever any of the kids are gone for extended periods of time, and Nicky and Martin inevitably...the word "abandon" comes to mind, and it gives me such grief.

With the cost of daycare, going back to work I am actually going to have less than I did on maternity leave...how that happens, you tell me. It will be 4 weeks before I have a full cheque because I started back on a payday. They do the 1 week behind pay thing....so my first cheque in 2 weeks will only be for 1 week.

Stress...? Yeh there is TONS of it around here.

Oh, and if I'm being honest here... I need to get this off my chest. My parents (who I'm estranged from) just did something plainly clear that tells me I don't matter to them. On one hand it's so tragically sad, and I'm sorry for the girl I had wanted to be and could have been and on the other hand it just doesn't matter...it's a confirmation of what I've always known.

I hate to be a victim of my past, and I generally never ever let that on, but I would like to be vulnerable for just a moment... I like to keep things to myself...I try to carry the burden of my pain, because it's mine. It's been an uphill struggle but through it all I've tried hard to maintain my integrity and my ethics...so sometimes it may appear I am being difficult, but it's rightfully so... I have nothing in my life if I don't have that respect for myself, even when I feel that I have no place and feel no self worth...I've never compromised my belief in being the honest person I have become. Don't mistake that for naivety. I'm far from that.

how hard it is to get showered and dressed to go to an interview with an almost 10 month old running around that crawls, and climbs and walks and opens everything! ARRGH! To top it off, I need to take him across town, only to come back for an interview by my house, and drive across town again! The only plus is I'm meeting a friend for coffee on that end of town...so I will have Jamie come and pick up Alex from my grandma, we're having supper made by her at my parents house anyways..where Alex is going. To make matters worse, I don't even really want to leave him with my 70 year old grandmother! She'll be fine, I'm sure...but I know her health is deteriorating, and this boy is FAST!

*sigh* I really wish I had more help! Family, someone. (I'm estranged from my parents if you weren't aware...)

In other news, I made brownies today...my first time ever. They were actually saucepan brownies... I had only maybe 1/2 a cup of cocoa left and most brownie recipes are calling for 3/4 cups. I guess if I didn't bake so much, I would still have cocoa! HA! ;) Anyways, I found a recipe in my Hershey's book...(yes, it's all ChoCOLatE!) that didn't need cocoa. It was quick, it was easy....and it was FUDGY!!! mmmm. Just what I needed right now....

Finally (another finally), I applied for a well paying night job. I am hoping to get a phone call for an interview there, so cross your fingers for me. It's not in my field of work, it's telephone work and it's a full time night position...and I might be crazy to admit this, but I really, really enjoy being a shifty! *blush* OH! They also give you a free gym membership to the YMCA! :D

I also have a possible interview at the Acura dealership..but it's gotta pay better! Cause that gym membership is a pretty sweet deal!

Please, keep me in your thoughts that I find a full time job quickly, Alexander is going to daycare on September 22 and we need the money coming in to pay for it! My part time job will pay for it...but not too much else!

First of all, to everyone who comes by my blog and reads and/or posts comments, it's truly appreciated! I wish I had more time in a day to leave comments and I try to get to your blogs when I can! Going back to work is soon upon me. I am looking for a second job, as my .4 nights will not be enough if Alex is to be in daycare. I could take a full time day job...but I really would like to keep my job at the nursing home. I am holding out for a full time position to open up there. That's why I can't leave, and that's why I shall torture myself. So, I've been looking for jobs...the ones that are calling me back are some on the bottom of the list for various reasons. I hate being underpaid for what I do...like at the nursing home I work at LOL. But, I love that place!

I'm finding it harder and harder to scrapbook and create because of various many stresses in my life... and at times I feel like quitting. But, how do you quit scrapbooking? I would feel guilty if I didn't do it. I do go back and look at my albums, so does Kara, and the boys when they are here. So, that makes it worthwhile right?

The interesting thing about my boys, is that Nicholas (9) loves to scrapbook, and I think he is quite good at it. :) My son Martin (8), he *loves* to look at the layouts! I enjoy when he grabs his sister and says, "Let's look at the scrapbooks." :) Enought to melt my heart to a pile of goo! ;)

Here is a layout, that his been literally sitting on my desk since before they even left back to Toronto almost 3 weeks ago...so it's probably been on my desk for a little over 3 weeks. I just LOVE this picture of Martin, and when I had it printed, I gasped a little...because as much as he is changing and growing, I see SO much of myself in him.

I used a sketch found on Sketch This I believe, and this beautiful Tinkering Ink paper. I'm not even a fan of them, but this paper pad is GORGEOUS! The buttons, well they were all supposed to be round, until I couldn't find any that matched...so these - they actually match better in person - little clusters were born, because I did have teal minis!

In the beginning...

I scrapped 12x12. I think there are about a dozen or so pages really. Boo posted a challenge to post some of your earlier layout and then one now. Well, I found 3 that I already had on my computer, none of these are my first...but all under 12th ever created! lol

I originally switched for easier scanning! lol Then I became hooked on 8 1/2 x 11 and I've never gone back. I am not even tempted to do 12x12, because I don't want to mess up my order now! ;)

Well here are 3 older layouts...about 2003 when I started after THINKING and collecting supplies for 2 years! It took me 2 full weeks to complete ONE simple layout!! LOL

Cardmaking that is! I've been looking around for some card challenge blogs to help me work on those cards...for some reason most of my cards just look poopy. To me it almost seems like a different world from scrapbooking! I wonder if cardmakers ever feel the same way about scrapbooking?

I picked up the August ZZ Fresh Flowers kit at Savvy N Sassy, which is the same kit that I worked with this month. I also have some chipboard from Magistical Memories to send along with the ribbon. Time for an update

First and foremost, I really want to extend my deepest gratitude for all your support and comforting words over the past little while. It's a difficult process for me to go through at the end of each summer, as I'm sure you can imagine. I think that maybe the following year, it will be a little easier because I'm accustomed to letting the boys go...but no, it doesn't get easier...how is it supposed to? A little bit of positive though, the boys do want to stay, but they're just not quite legally able to decide that. Their father had said things that made me ILL to make them feel guilty about even wanting to stay. I don't even want to think about it anymore. Anyways, thank you to all my internet friends, I am truly blessed for you!

So...my year long hiatus AKA mat leave will be up in just over a month! How depressing is that. I am *tortured* at the thought of leaving my baby at daycare, I've never had to do this. I work nights...so that means I would be gone from him all night, and he would be gone from me all day!! I just cannot do it. I've decided I am going to keep a casual position at the nursing home, and work part time at Safeway or some equally mundane job..so that I can work part time evenings. This way I can still be at home for my little guy, I can still partake in my daughters daily school dropping off and picking up etc. It's not ideal, as I don't like working evenings, but it will be alright. Hopefully, I'll be back in school (again!!) and on to a path to a new career...(again!!) ;)

I can't leave you all without some creativity. I really *needed* to use this SEI poppy paper, it's just not pretty hidden away on my shelf! The little tab is where I meant to write the date, but I took forever adjusting the corners and I forgot, and now I see the corners are still off, ARGH!

Today is the day...

The worst day of my life, again. The boys, are heading back to their dads. I couldn't sleep last night, I think I was awake until about 5 am, and I got up at 8 am this morning, as always to give Nicholas his meds. I'm exhausted...but I know by the end of the day I'll be zonked. I'm sure I'll welcome it.

Throughout the day, I get choked up, or burst into tears...but the most difficult part, is as we wait in line to board, the hugs, the kisses...and then watching them disappear behind the glass until they are just, gone.

I have to sit there and wait until their plane is moving, and at that time, I feel so alone, and so empty...and so heartbroken. I feel like I failed myself, and failed them, and I feel so lost. I literally do feel the pain in my heart...like it's a tight squeezing pain...it never gets easier, letting them go.

When their plane is heading towards the runway, I leave the gate and go to the observation booth... I watch the plane navigate its way down the winding paths..and as the plane takes off, I press my head against the glass until the plane is gone from my sight.

That's when it becomes real...they really are gone.

I'll be spending the rest of my day with them, getting all the hugs and kisses that I can get.

It's almost 3am now...I can't sleep. The pain is getting harder to contain...there will be no more Fridays with you guys... until next summer. That ever present lump has formed in my throat, and the heartache is real. I can physically feel pain in my heart.

New Challenge & Tag, Tag, Tag!

Challenge #4- All About Music is the next challenge over at So Tell Me Your Story... This layout, didn't turn out immediately as I had envisioned it...so after wrecking the MME transparency I used to write my music, I remembered I had this awesome DCWV patterned paper. I was thrilled that after cutting out the guitar it still looked good on a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock!

There really only was one positioning for the guitar, so the rest just flowed! I had to make a late night trip to Michael's for letter stickers I ran out of. I couldn't find matching glittery ones, but I did find the same font in just plain brown, so it all worked out, and it still looks fine to me!

I don't know about you, but to me...I think this is one of my most favourite layouts I have done! Just everything about it, makes it feel so...me!

The little star accent, is layered with a brown button, and on top of that is an epoxy sticker. I really love that simple embellishment. The sticker really works on that button to add to the feel of my layout! Check out the challenge, and come and join in! All about me books, are really important to leave behind!

oh my!

So, I've really had nothing to talk about...I think I must be boring everyone. :x Just keeping busy with this summer, trying to get as much activity in as I can. The inevitable is coming. In 9 days Nicholas and Martin will be heading back to Toronto. *sigh* I don't really want to think about it too much, I don't want to spend the last few days gloomy.

So....on my travels I found these at giant tiger. They are bookshelves with 3 compartments. I wasn't sure if they would fit the cropper hopper holders but they did!!! It wouldn't have been a loss anyways, because I am sure I would have found use all over the house for these! I have 2 in my kitchen as well. The extra space is welcome in my currently tiny kitchen in a rented house. *sigh* Anyways, the best part....these were under 10 bucks each!!!!

If you remember (not so long ago) I spilled coffee all over my paper!
:( The spot where these shelves sit, is where I had my paper holders sitting! It's where my coffee went flying, all the way to the white carts there. Anyways, I've been on a paper buying mission, so hopefully I will have this full in no time. I would have, if not for my little accident. :X

I couldn't help sharing this little nifty thing-a-ma-bobber. It came with some stationery I bought at Home Sense and it works PERFECT for storing those cute little versa ink stamp pads. I (usually) get 2 in my Just Cre8 kits, so this is filling up fast! But, it's stored so neatly and sooo easy to grab and use. BTW...the geek in me has them sorted by lowest to highest number. haah!
So, there's a sketch site that is called, Creative Scrappers. I used the current sketch on the blog to create this layout. The reason I am pointing this layout out, is for you to notice the only bit of patterned paper on it. The paper itself is nothing special, from a rob and bob holiday slab. But, what I want you to notice is the scallop edge with the little holes... yes, that. WELL!! I've been coveting that darn, elusive Threading Water punch...and I did not get it..and resorted to HAND cutting those little scallops and punching holes! >.< buuuuut... guess what I found at Michael's today....

Yay!

Do you ever get stuck in a rut scrapbooking? Well, yeh, I bet you do..we all do. I've been looking at this sketch from Creative Scrappers for like a week. My paper was from here to trimmer and back, kids stepped on it..that's how long I've been trying to get it going. Finally, I just did it. It's using the July Just Cre8 kit, that I *really* wanted to make a dent in, since I haven't touched it yet and already received August! I really like my layout in person, my scanner is being so cruel to me, and everything looks like poo!

It's been a busy few dayS! My oldest turned 9!!! Holy smokes where does the time go??? My only DD lost her two bottom teeth today within an hour of eachother! She looks so cute! I'll have to get some pics. Her with her missing two and my youngest with his only two. LOL

It's been a bit of a rough week. I will admit I am enjoying a vodka with 7up, my drink of choice. :) It has my muscles relaxed. I need to do one more blog post, and then Jamie and I will snuggle up and watch The Tudors. :)

The 2nd challenge over at So Tell Me Your Story is up. For this challenge, scrapbook about your name, you can include info of how your parents decided on it, it's history or simply what it means! Here is what I did for this challenge:

To make the stitched design, I stamped a Fancy Pants swirly stamp on my cardstock. Next, I used a paper piercer to follow the lines. Over that I painted the swirls. Now it was easy to stitch because I had prepoked my holes.
I am *so* into stitching on my layouts right now. The only reason I don't like to machine/hand sew is because I'm too lazy to drag out the stuff I need, especially with 4 kids running under my feet all day long! ;)

We went to Tully's Berry Farm, and picked 11, 4 litre buckets of strawberries. Of course with the fun of that comes shucking them and cutting them and bagging them. Now my back is so sore and my left arm feels like carpal tunnel syndrome. Except, I don't know what carpal tunnel feels like. I've got 31 ziploc bags of berries. :S I'll probably keep out 6 or 7 and the rest will be frozen.

This is the first layout that I did for the Savvy N' Sassy design team, using SNS ribbon. I had a sketch laying around, and this BEAUTIFUL Cosmo Cricket paper came in, thankfully AFTER the coffee incident! It's the Hello Sunshine line, in case you were wondering...the colours are to DIE for!!!
The ribbon kit I picked matched it perfectly...I'll get a pic of that up too. Do you see the hand stitching? I am seriously obsessed with that right now. At first I was like meh, what a silly trend...but it hasn't really caught on...and I LOVE the detail it adds to my layout. Stay tuned for another (much more involved) hand stitched layout to come for my STMYS DT blog! Only a couple more days for that reveal, I'm so excited!

I have a headache, now I need to lay down.

I'm still here... Alex caught a pretty bad cold about 4 days ago that he is still fighting. Kara is on day 2... Then I caught it, I'm on day 2...and it's just been pegging us off one by one. It's a bad one, because I hardly get sick. I feel SO sorry for the little guy. I'm pretty sure he caught it when we went to visit friends who had baby #5...with that many kids, one is bound to be sick, and in fact snotty. :)

Give me a couple more days to get the draw done, in the meantime...here's Alex when he's not sick and miserable... ;)

To celebrate joining the Savvy N' Sassy Design Team, I am giving away sweetness! And stay tuned to my blog, I plan on giving away a ribbon kit every month for the rest of this year! :D From Savvy N' Sassy of course!

You will get 24 sheets of MAMBI Sunshine papers, which include glittered and UV papers! (I don't know yet if these will be trimmed or not depending on shipping!) 120 centimetres of each ribbon, for a total of 360 centimetres of American Craft Ribbon, and 4 thank you stamps. He knows how down I've been lately...and I'm really trying not to be for his sake. He always thinks that if he could do more, I would be happier...if he made more money, I could stay home...etc.

For about a week he has been working on a "secret" project. This is what he did, for me. He made this award, the "baw-baw" award:

"2008 Mumumum" What my 7 month old Alex calls me. :) How sweet is this?

The inscription at the top says, "Golden Baw Baw Award; Best Mumumum In A Nurturing Role"

It's so sweet that he worked on getting this together...and he gave it to me with tears in his eyes. He really worked hard on it, and he did it with love. I really, really do have the best partner that I could ever ask for. I wish I could do more for him.

My Scrap Space Part I

Well, first of all, thanks everyone for your encouraging words, I really appreciate it! I had a difficult day today, I am really depressed about the work/daycare situation. Because of the shortages, my options are limited. The spot available, may not be worth it... I will explain that in another post, maybe over the weekend.

Today, I just want to share some pics of my scraproom...well corner I guess...scrapbook nook? LOL. It's actually a corner of my living room, behind the large sofa. This post will be in several parts (teehee) because there is just too much to fit into one post...and if someone walks away with a good idea, hey!

Don't mind the white walls, we're renters. *sigh* Anyways, if you wanna see anything closer, as usual click on the pic!

Ok, I had a spice rack in my kitchen that NEVER got used. Seriously the parsley...had turned white. :o So I cleaned the jars out, reserved those for later...might need them? lol. Most of the spices I use come in a container that is just more convenient, anyways. Wasn't too sure what I was going to do with it...but then *click* I thought how awesome it would be to see my HS paints! There's 12 colours, so it worked out perfect! Check it out: This glass jar...is SO filled with goodness....you can't even SEE all the yummy ribbons..because this seriously holds like 12 litres..it's MASSIVE!!! I picked it up at Value Village last week for 5.99. It still has the Made in Romania sticker you can see on the left..hehe. I was actually looking for a cookbook, when I saw this in the corner of my eye...and I hummed and hawwed, cause 6 bucks, and I'm trying to be frugal....but you know what, it was a good deal! Jamie said just get it, cause you'll regret it later! (He knows me so well!) Another awesome find is this WAY COOL spice rack. At least I think that's what it's meant to be? It holds 6 of these air tight snap jars. I love this beyond belief. I've had it for a couple months now..it was holding different flowers, but I've reorganized all my flowers today. 4.99 at Salvation Army. What do you think, cool eh?

Here is a close up view, I've decided to put in all those Got Flowers? in them..you know the ones where we had to have a dozen jars of? Wow, Prima sure has come a long way!

Here is a view of that whole setup. It's on top of my hutch on my desk. Paints in the back, the FREAKING cool jars in front of it...then I have (a few) doodlebug sugar coating bottles in front of that, and then the stickles glitter glues in front of that.

This is the jar that held those ribbons in that GINORMOUS jar posted above, until today. This was such a score for me. 2.99 at Salvation Army. The ribbon is what I had in mind for it! Now it is full to the brim of primas...literally thousands, don't be fooled by it's size! It easily holds over 4 litres for sure! The primas are SQUISHED in there! :D

Now, the mm jar is recycled. It was the Love Story Embellishment Jar. I've stuffed as many of my mm buttons in there as it could hold. I have a little more of them, but that's all I'll get in there! The buttons are no longer up here with the flowers/paint/glitter. I changed my mind and keeping all my buttons together.

The cool jar, is from a candle. One of those large $10 ones at Walmart, it was tri coloured. I got the labels off by using an alcohol swab, and the rest of the icky wax, by turning it upside down in the sink and running hot water on it. The wax slid right out!

This is the small size of Dollarama square jar. It comes in 3 sizes. You can see how I used the large one for candy back in the February posts. This contains most of my mm florals/felt flowers.

Another candle jar! These things are so reusable, eh? I love this one, because of the awesome lid. It's a special jar. Jamie bought me a really nice candle when I was in the hospital as part of a little gift bag he brought for me. :) There are 2 boxes of Prima Essentials 3 in here! :O

Ok, I LOVE these little jars..soooo cute! .99 at Value Village! Hello, can you go wrong? This one holds 2 colours of prima sprites or something like that, you can see the yellow at the bottom, kaiser craft flowers in all colours and a hunkload of prima painterlies..oh yeh, I'm hooked on prima painterlies!

Another .99 jar! This one holds 2 packages of mm glitter flower clears. Love these little guys, and I need them out so I can remember to use them!

I couldn't resist grabbing one more .99 jar! lol I was giddy as I washed them, knowing they would hold little treasures. This one holds the large HS flowers, Bazzill flowers, Heidi Grace sparkly ones, and misc others.

Who would have thought! Using prima bottles to store flowers! LOL. The far left is a jar full of Dollarama felt flowers. There is 3 sets. The last 2 hold prima Heavenlies. I really wanted to cram the blue/pink in one jar...but they're a picky bunch!

I have 6 of these cute mm jars from an embellishment set. I've decided to recycle them for button use. This jar holds a set of MME Just Dreamy buttons, in Star Bright. I couldn't resist them after getting a few in my May Just Cre8 kit. An impulse buy, that I don't reccommend lest you need therapy after... $6.99 for 100 buttons! :S

Here is what the top of it looks like all together. Minus the buttons, I've moved those to another location. :) I wanted to keep my buttons together. I definitely need more buttons though!

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing part of my scrapbook room! There will be more in the future.... but it sure is a lot of working taking the pics/uploading/posting!

Don't forget to check out your local thrift stores for awesome jars! I'm addicted to jars!
